Listen to the room first
Pause and notice fans, traffic, appliances and echo. Choose a quieter time or space when practical. Soft furnishings may reduce harsh reflections, but do not cover the phone’s microphone. Place the camera safely and keep the speaking distance consistent through the scene.
Record the actual volume
Test a line at the volume you will use, including any louder section. Listen for clipped words, distant speech and interruptions. Check that a reader is not much louder than the performer. A ten-second test can reveal a problem before you record the entire scene.
Check the exported recording
Replay the VIPCasting video on both headphones and the phone speaker. Confirm that the beginning, quiet lines and final words are intelligible. If the recording is poor, adjust the setup and record again; captions should not be your only solution to unclear audio.
